In the midst of all this sale madness I think we’ve all forgotten something extremely important: David Axelrod’s amazing new live concert released by Vampi Soul - Live At Royal Festival Hall:
Axelrod is not only one of the mose renowned soul, jazz and funk producers of all times (do the names Lou Rawls and Cannonball Adderly mean anything to you?)), but also a sort of avante-garde maniac in the composing world. This orchestral performance proves that well, soul, jazz, funk, salsa, mambo, bugaloo, WHATEVER, David Axelrod’s a fucking genius.
So take a brief moment from mouth breathing over our, truly, awesome sale and check this out, it might just whet your pretty little whistle.
Second monstrous week in our monstrous 1st Annual Light In The Attic Holiday Sale and we’re just tossing out more and more discounts to help lighten the stress on your wallet this holiday season. Our second featured bundle is a doozy … you might need to sit down, maybe get a brown bag for you hyperventilators, because we present to you:
Ohhhhh, we see, you’re one of the in-touch individuals who’ve already dug deep in to our critically acclaimed Jamaica To Toronto series. You’ve grooved out to Jackie Mittoo, felt the low-key shiver of Earth, Roots and Water, and the sweet softness of Noel Ellis. And oh man, how we applaud you for your intitiative in searching out some truly under-loved treasures. We ask you this though friend, how many of these jams do you have in the beautiful, big, love-soaked format of the vinyl LP? Oh, none? You don’t even own a record player? Hmmmm … well, uh, jeez, you should get on that, and then when you do, you should add this stunning set of LPs to your (obviously minute) record collection. They’ll change the way you not only look at that stack of clunky CDs you have piled next to your 80s ghetto blaster, but the way you listen to this treasure trove of absolutely blissful cuts.
A comprehensive anthology of all the different music projects of outstanding Peruvian flute and saxophone player Nilo Espinosa. The best Peruvian flautist you’ve ever heard.
The 1st Annual Light In The Attic Holiday Sale is raging right now, bundles flying, blowout sale items literally being carried away in burlap sacks by record hungry vagrants like yourselves. It’s pretty crazy. But we want it to get crazier … in terms of how much discount you can accrue.

Mitch Mitchell was Jimi Hendrix’s drummer in pretty much all of the bands that stemmed from his ridiculous guitar player. He passed away yesterday, and to say the least, we’ve lost another one of the greats. Not to bog down your weekend with depressing news, but maybe just keep old Mitch in your thoughts for a couple minutes this weekend, you know we will.
Are you living in the Los Angeles/Bay Area and totally excited that next week will bring not one but two appearances by the newly rediscovered legend himself, Rodriguez? Well, first take a peek at this brand new poster from his L.A. appearance at The Echo on the 21st of November (next Friday beeyatches!) and feel the stir in your tender bits:
That’s for the Los Angeles show where our man Rodriguez will be playing with the absolutely brilliant Connie Price and The Keystones. From there he’ll be shooting up to San Francisco to play at show at The Great American Music Hall with headliners The Entrance Band. These are going to be absolutely historic shows as Rodriguez has never played West of Detroit before. All the informations located below, so get out there and buy some goddamn tickets!
But …
If you’re unable to go to either show, or are too poor to cough up a little change for some great music, Rodriguez will be playing a free in-store at the amazing Amoeba Records in San Francisco on the 23rd, that’s Saturday. The poster is below, and though we’d love for you to see this master of the craft within the confines of a true venue, we understand if this is all you can make it too.
The poster:
All the sordid details about all three shows, AFTER THE JUMP!

As said before today I ROCK CLEVELAND is offering its favorite items from our catalog. I Rock Cleveland is one of the biggest, most consistently entertaining blogs operating right now, and we couldn’t be happier that they’ve decided to help us out. They’ve picked some very amazing, very recent, very popular Light In The Attic releases, so it’d be in your best interest to head on over.
As the year careens to an end, we’re once again approaching the always exciting, mostly stressful, yet at times magical Holiday Season. So for the first time ever we here at Light In The Attic have decided to indulge the rampant consumerism that marks these final months of the year and are throwing a Holiday Sale! Yup, you read it right, for the next month and a half (November 10th until December 31st to be exact) we’re not only discounting every item in our store, but we’ll also be offering discounted bundle packs (perfect for the gifting), super-discounted BLOWOUT items, a surprise Brown Bag Pack, and an even further overall discount if you’re willing (which you should be) to head on over to a few of our favorite music blogs. It’s going to be a ridiculous month-and-a-half on the site, and we hope you take some time to peruse all the wonderful items we’ve put together. All the sordid details below!
We’ve spent a good deal of time around here putting our heads together to come up with some, if we don’t say so ourselves, pretty awesome “themed bundles” for your enjoyment. “Ladies of L.I.T.A. vs. Vampi Vixens”, “The Blakes Steal The Holidays”, “The Saturday Knights Are Funner Than You” … there’s a whole lot of them, and each one is filled to the brim with awesome music and a selection of surprise goodies you’ll be happy to receive. All of the bundles are always available for purchase right here, but our featured bundle will even more discounted than before. That means you get great music, cool goodies, all for a cheaper price - what more could you ask?
