![]() The Free Design Kites Are Fun Heaven/Earth Light In The Attic The first reissues outside of Japan for the first two LPs from the Dedricks - the first family of sugar-coated pop psych. Cut for Enoch Light's Project 3 label in 1967 and 1969 respectively, these cult albums demonstrate that harmonics are somehow tighter and knitted closer when the vocalists are all actually related. I suppose this could be classed as territory that will be familiar to listeners of the Beach Boys, the Association, Simon & Garfunkel et al, but with a subtle feel that is boundlessly sweet and charmingly naïve - unfettered loveliness from a time long gone. You must also check out the remix 12" - a rare example of 60s pop updated that works - which features Madlib on top form and some glimmer from cult UK songsters Belle & Sebastian. (DB)
