In the '60s, The Free Design played perfect pop. To celebrate the reissue of the sweet-sounding band's influential catalog, Light
In The Attic, along with several contemporary tunesmiths, aims to improve upon perfection with The Free Design Redesigned series.
Last year, fans were treated to the acclaimed vinyl-only (12") Volumes One and Two, which featured exclusive Free Design remixes & reinterpretations by Madlib, members of Belle & Sebastian and Mars Volta, Danger Mouse & Murs, Stereolab, Caribou (formerly Manitoba), Nobody, Peanut Butter Wolf, and many more.
In Summer 2005, the series will officially be complete and finally on CD with the release of The Now Sound Redesigned - which masterfully melds each cut from the vinyl-only Volumes One and Two, plus three new tracks (from the upcoming 12" vinyl release Volume 3), including Kid Koala, Styrofoam, Sarah Shannon, Koushik, and Dudley Perkins (Stones Throw).
The summer is looking very bright!
