1947
Born, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

1962-67   Performs throughout Jamaica, including w/ The Celestials, alongside Dizzy Barker & Jimmy Wisdom.

1967   Jo-Jo Bennett now living in Toronto, sends for Montego Bay, Jamaican musicians. Wayne moves to Canada, performing regularly at Toronto's WIF Club.

1968   Wayne's daughter Marnie born

1968   Pens "Chips-Chicken-Banana Split" for the A-Side of Jo-Jo & The Fugitives sole 45 b/w "Mr. Fugitive" (Cobra label).

  Pens "Mr. Fortune", recorded by The Hitchikers featuring the Mighty Pope.

1969   Performs at the inaugural Caribana Festival, Toronto.

Winter 1969   Records The Sounds Of Joy album.

Spring 1970   Wayne McGhie & The Sounds Of Joy LP released! Soon after, severe fire hits pressing plant, destroying majority of LP's, label does not reprint.

  Records with Coxsone Dodd at Studio One, including the cut "How Does It Feel".

1972   Forms RAM, a splinter group of The Hitchikers, featuring Studio One veteran Joe Isaacs on drums. RAM records "Love Is The Answer."

  Records/tours throughout '60s / '70s with Jackie Mittoo, including Mittoo's 1978 LP Let's Put It All Together

1980   Completely disappears from music world, losing all touch with bandmates and old friends.

1995   Beat-diggers discover The Sounds Of Joy, original LP's sell for $600, DAT's for $100.

2003   Light In The Attic searches the world for McGhie, but with no luck from old Birchmount execs, Jamaican & Toronto phone listings and hospital/tax records, friends, diggers, barbershops, etc. etc. etc…Wayne completely gone!

Jan 18, 2004   Toronto soul legend Jay Douglas works his magic, locating Wayne's sister, Merline. The golden ticket arrives, ending the search for Wayne.

Jan 26, 2004   Light In The Attic meets Wayne McGhie in Toronto's worst blizzard in years. Through endless days of cold and snow, Wayne agreed to bring his baby back.

May 11, 2004   The World Rediscovers The Legend of Wayne McGhie!
